    At the regular meeting of the Board of Education, the Board approved the following:

    • Revised list of Professional and Support staff transfers effective with the 2020-2021 school year.
    • Employee #4797, a paid childbearing leave of absence, beginning on or about September 14, 2020, through October 8, 2020, and an unpaid FMLA childbearing/childrearing leave of absence, beginning October 9, 2020, through on or about November 6, 2020, with insurance, as per Federal Government regulations.
    • Employee #3666, a paid childrearing leave of absence, beginning August 24, 2020, through August 31, 2020, and an unpaid FMLA childrearing leave of absence, beginning September 1, 2020, through on or about September 30, 2020, with insurance, as per Federal Government regulations.
    • Employee #2378, a half-year medical sabbatical for the first semester of the 2020- 2021 school year.

    • Approve for Employee #4708, an unpaid FMLA leave of absence beginning September 18, 2020, through October 30, 2020, with insurance, as per Federal Government regulations, and an unpaid leave of absence beginning November 2, 2020, through November 10, 2020, no insurance.
    • Resignation of Kelly Marhefka, Special Education Instructional Assistant, effective August 24, 2020.
    • Resignation of Anna Zawierucha, Mathematics Teacher, for the purpose of superannuated retirement, effective at the end of the first semester of the 2020-2021 school year.
    • Resignation of Annette Knappenberger, Cafeteria Monitor, effective the end of the day, September 16, 2020.
    • Revised listing of 68-day Short-Term Substitute Teachers for the 2020-2021 school year. The per diem rate will be $125.00, per the Substitute Professional pay schedule, no benefits.
    • Mary Ann Weaver, LTS Grade 3 Elementary Teacher at Siegfried Elementary School, effective August 24, 2020, for the 2020-2021 school year. Her salary will be $54,055.00, with benefits, based on a Bachelor’s degree and Step 1, per the Collective Bargaining Agreement between NASD and NAEA.
    • Individuals to oversee intramural programs and the weight room for the 2020-2021 school year, effective August 1, 2020, through June 30, 2021.
    • Nicole Morin, Long Term Substitute Mathematics Teacher at the High School, effective August 24, 2020, for the first semester of the 2020-2021 school year, pending receipt of proper documentation. Her salary will be $287.53 per diem, based on a Bachelor’s Degree, Step 1.
    • The following individuals as School Crossing Guards, for a term beginning August 21, 2020, through the last student day of the 2020-2021 school year. The rate of pay will be $11.94 per hour, no benefits, in accordance with each individual contract:  Kermit Bachman and Jennifer Schwartz-O'Boyle
    • Billie Fruit, Supervisor of Technical Support Services, effective August 25, 2020, at an annual pro-rated salary of $66,500.00, with benefits, and in accordance with the Act 93 Agreement.  The salary for this position will be paid from ACCESS Funds.
    • Caralie Seward, Long Term Substitute Social Studies Teacher at the High School, effective August 24, 2020, for the first semester of the 2020-2021 school year.  Her salary will be $287.53 per diem, based on a Bachelor’s Degree, Step 1. 
    • Department and District Coordinators and Middle School Subject Leaders’ compensation effective for the 2020-2021 school year.
    • The suspension of the procedure set forth in Board Policy 003 that requires a review of a proposed new policy at a Board workshop or regular Board meeting prior to adoption of the policy at a subsequent Board meeting; and in lieu of such procedure, approve the adoption of the following proposed policies, reviewed at the August 19, 2020 Board Policy Committee Meeting, and their respective attachments, under a separate motion.  This suspension of the procedures for policy review shall remain in effect only for the Board meeting on August 24, 2020.

    • PlanCon Part K, Project Refinancing, and give approval to submit PlanCon Part K to the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
    • The Business Administrator to provide written consent on behalf of the School Board for the sale by the Northampton County Tax Claim Bureau the property with parcel G4 1 21 0520C for the bid of $600.00 in accordance with the Real Estate Tax Sales Law. The property had previously been offered for sale at a County upset sale and thereafter at a County judicial sale, but was not sold and instead was placed in the County Repository of unsold properties.

    • Northampton Area School District Organizational Chart.
    • President of the Northampton Area School District Board of School Directors to sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that provides for enrollment in the Bethlehem Area School District (BASD) of two homeless children beginning for school year 2020-2021. The homeless children had previously been enrolled in Northampton Area School District beginning in March 2019 until the end of the school year 2019-2020.  The enrollment at BASD is based upon the request of the children’s Mother and based on a determination by the school districts that it is in the best interest of the children to enroll in BASD, where both children had previously enrolled prior to March 2019.
