Under Pennsylvania School Code, children in grades Kindergarten, 3 and 7 are required to have dental screening exams. This exam may be provided by a family’s private dentist, or by the school district in which the family resides.
The District recommends that your family dentist complete this exam since he/she can best evaluate your child’s dental health. You may have the dental exam completed up to one year prior to the start of the school year in which it is required.
Effective with the beginning of the 2017-18 school year, the District has formed a partnership with the Big Smiles/Smile Programs…the mobile dentists, a national program that services school districts. If further services are necessary, beyond the exam and cleaning, billing is processed directly through the students’ Medicaid or private insurance. Any additional services will be discussed and agreed upon prior to completion.
