    (1) Personnel:  Assistant Superintendent supervises and oversees School District personnel pursuant to the Assistant Superintendent’s job description and as directed and assigned by the Superintendent or Board.

    (2)  Policy, Laws and Regulations:  Assistant Superintendent recommends and works collaboratively with the Board to develop, review, and revise Board Policy and Procedures and informs the Superintendent and Board Policy Committee about new laws and regulations that may affect the District and/or necessitate updates of Board Policy and Procedures.

    (3)  School Safety and Security:  Assistant Superintendent supervises, oversees, enforces and initiates School District policies, programs, and training for the safety and security of students and staff.  Assistant Superintendent supervises, oversees, and schedules training for the School District police and security personnel.  Assistant Superintendent monitors School District compliance with Federal laws and regulations, State laws and regulations, local ordinances and School District policies and procedures relating to safety and security.

    (4) Student Discipline:  Assistant Superintendent oversees and enforces the Student Code of Conduct in collaboration with the building principals, assistant principals, security personnel, School District police and other School District personnel.  The Assistant Superintendent informs the Superintendent about discipline issues that impact and relate to the daily operation of each District school.

    (5) Accountability:  Assistant Superintendent is accountable to the Superintendent and shall provide information, data, and knowledge about School District staff under his direct supervision and students for whom he is responsible including written reports as might be requested by the Superintendent.

    (6)  Professionalism:  Assistant Superintendent models professional decision-making processes and ethical standards consistent with the values of Pennsylvania’s public education system as well as that of the local community.  Assistant Superintendent additionally works to individually reflect upon his effectiveness within the role, and works to improve effectiveness through the use of professional development literature and activities.

    (7)  Communication and Community Relations:  Assistant Superintendent communicates with and effectively engages the staff, the Board, and members of the community, clearly articulating the goals and priorities of the School District and Superintendent, and building support for the School District’s initiatives, programs, and short/long term plans.

    (8)  Engaging in Professional Development:  Assistant Superintendent maintains professional development through engagement in educational pursuits; engages in educational related endeavors (reads educational materials, matriculates in educational courses, attends educational conferences, and participates on educational committees); visits or communicates with other public school districts, as well as charter and private schools.

    The Assistant Superintendent has met the above Performance Standards for the 2019-2020 school year.
