Mr. Luke Shafnisky

Principal

Mr. Shafnisky graduated from Muhlenberg College with a major in biology and completed his teacher certification at Moravian College. He earned master's degrees from Wilkes University and Lehigh University. Both of his parents worked for Northampton Area School District, and this is his fifth year as Principal of NAHS. 

His hobbies include hiking and the outdoors, traveling, reading, and spending time with his wife and rescue dog.

Ms. Borealo graduated from Bloomsburg University with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She continued her education at Delaware Valley University, earning a Master of Science in Special Education. She spent most of her teaching career at Wilson Area High School as a special education teacher, but did spend 2 years early in her career teaching middle school science in Virginia. She was High School Assistant Principal, Supervisor of Special Education and Elementary Assistant Principal for Pleasant Valley School District prior to coming to Northampton Area School District.

Miss Janelle Schaeffer

Miss Schaeffer grew up in Lake Hauto and graduated from Tamaqua High School. She then attended Moravian College where she earned a B.A. in English and her teaching certification. She also received her M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction and her principal's certification from Moravian College. Prior to coming to Northampton High School, she taught English and worked in administration at Nazareth High School.

She enjoys staying active and spending time outside, especially with her dog, an Australian Shepherd named Mya. Her hobbies include running, strength training, yoga, paddle boarding, boating, and traveling.

Jamison Barnhart

Mr. Barnhart is extremely excited to begin his 16th year as an educator at his alma mater of Northampton Area High School.  Mr. Barnhart received his undergraduate education from Temple University where he earned his Bachelor's of Science in Chemistry.  He then earned his Master of Arts in Secondary Education from the University of Phoenix.  Mr. Barnhart returned to Temple University to study Educational Leadership and obtained his principal certification.

Prior to arriving at Northampton, Mr. Barnhart served as the Assistant Principal at Brandywine Heights High School.  Before moving into administration, Mr. Barnhart taught high school science at Philadelphia Academy Charter and Whitehall High School.  

When Mr. Barnhart isn’t at school, you will find him camping and boating with his family and spending time with them at the beach.  He enjoys playing golf and is an avid Philly four sports fan.
