The Northampton Area School District is currently constructing the new K-5 East Allen Elementary School and an Educational Center on New Seemsville Road in East Allen Township. For the past several years, numerous presentations, discussions, and updates have been provided to the community regarding this project and other District facilities. These presentations are located on the District website. Because of the completion of the East Allen Elementary School and Educational Center in the Summer of 2026, the District must realign the boundaries for our Elementary Schools (Kindergarten through Grade 5) for the 2026-2027 school year.
Also, based on the data received by the townships and boroughs in our District, it is estimated that 2,000 new homes will be built in the coming years. The majority of those homes are in Allen, East Allen, and Lehigh Townships. Many of those homes are under construction at this time.
To address the changes within our Elementary Schools, the District has contracted with an outside consultant, FutureThink, to redraw the elementary school boundaries. The new elementary school boundaries were determined by a combination of the following:
Each building's capacities.
Location of current homes and new homes being constructed throughout the District.
Bus travel time and routes for students.
Keeping neighborhood students together.
Special Education requirements.
The new District boundaries will require some students, depending on where they live, to attend a different District elementary school for the 2026-2027 school year.
For the current 2025-2026 school year, all buildings will be operational and students will continue to attend their current schools as in the past years. No changes in student placement will occur for the 2025-2026 school year..
The following will provide background information and the plan for the District moving forward beginning in the 2026-2027 school year.
