The Northampton Boys Basketball program came together this season to raise funds for a meaningful cause, uniting players, families, and the community through its annual Kids vs. Cancer campaign. The effort combined on-court participation with widespread community support to promote cancer awareness and fundraising.

The Shoot-A-Thon has raised $3,479 and counting, with additional donations still pending. This total represents a significant increase from last year’s fundraiser, which raised just over $2,200, reflecting the continued growth and success of the campaign.

Now in its second year, the Shoot-A-Thon challenges players to attempt 100 free throws, with supporters pledging donations either as a flat amount or on a per–free throw basis. Each player was encouraged to raise $100, and 18 players exceeded that goal, with 25 players total contributing across the program.

Donations were collected through the Giving Zone platform, which supports the program’s Kids vs. Cancer fundraising page and manages all online contributions. Once the fundraiser concludes, the booster club receives the payout and sends a check directly to the American Cancer Society, ensuring all funds go directly to support cancer research, education, and patient services.

In addition to the Shoot-A-Thon, players wore special Kids vs. Cancer warm-up shirts during a designated Junior High, JV, and Varsity game this season against Liberty. The team selected lavender shirts, symbolizing general cancer awareness. The shirts were also offered for sale to families and fans, with an overwhelmingly positive response from the Northampton community.

The success of this year’s Kids vs. Cancer Shoot-A-Thon highlights the commitment of the Northampton Boys Basketball program and its supporters. With strong participation and growing momentum, the campaign is expected to continue expanding and making an even greater impact in the future.
