This summer our secondary students in the Northampton Area School District had an opportunity to engage in 3-week classes that helped bridge their learning from this past school year to the next.
Prior to the start of the Bridge Program, our district ELA, Math, and Science teachers designed courses that included learning opportunities for both in-person and virtual settings. With each of our students using their district-issued Chromebook and teachers having the ability to work alongside our district technology coaches, we were able to truly collaborate & design instruction that was engaging, fun, and impactful for our students. Our teachers have made a positive difference in our student’s skills and abilities, leaving our 3-week program much more confident going into their respective grade levels in the Fall. Our online students did not miss a beat in their learning, even working from a home setting. Online students were hyflexed into a live session with our teachers and participated right alongside other members of the classrooms.

In a high school science course, students discussed nucleic acids, sang the DNA song, and did a mini lab on Strawberry DNA extraction while discussing all of the other macromolecules within a strawberry.
Our Middle School ELA courses were full of reading and writing, where students worked collaboratively to build reading & writing stamina, all while learning how authors bring characters to life!
In our Middle School Math courses, students learned about integer operations, evaluating expressions, and solving equations through a variety of activities while using Classkick, card sorts, games, and group work.
